My twin sister, Lyla, and I are raising funds to help pay our dad’s medical bills for life-saving treatment. On the night of August 14th, we had to rush our dad to the hospital. When we arrived at the emergency room, we learned that his kidneys were failing rapidly and he had a heart attack. The chances of saving his life were slim. That was the worst night. We thought we were going to lose our dad, our rock, our #1 supporter. We cried on each other’s shoulders in the emergency room for hours. Our brother stayed with our dad all night, so we could go home and try to get some sleep. We couldn’t sleep. If you know our dad, you know that he is kind, funny, caring. He loves music and he loves helping people. Before he became weak from kidney failure, he worked maintenance for our apartment complex, taking calls all day. Even in the middle of the night, he would take any call to help. It didn’t matter if he was off the clock, he’d help. It is no surprise that he is so loved by his community. Now, we are the ones asking for help. Luckily, the doctors saved him and he is stable now, but he and our family have a long journey ahead of us physically, emotionally, and financially. He now has outpatient dialysis treatment three times a week. Eventually, he will need a kidney transplant. The costs are overwhelming, but maybe with your kind help, we can help our dad get his normal life back, or as close to normal as possible. Throughout this all, our dad has remained optimistic for himself but also for his family. He knows we need his optimism to stay strong, and he’s right. He’s a fighter, so we want to believe he can make it. Whether it’s $5 or $500, every donation makes a difference form him and our family.
